By the end of the year, an exercise to identify challenges, issues, goals and opportunities will be undertaken with RERC’s leadership. The next strategic plan will be results-oriented: for example, we aim at establishing concrete measures against money laundering and unregulated transactions. The plan will be reviewed and approved in autumn 2019 by the Business Group, comprised of the CEOs of member jurisdictions. The deployment of the strategic plan is scheduled for January 1, 2020.

The last meeting of the group was held from June 5 to 7 in Vancouver. The meeting was an opportunity to welcome the Yukon, which joined the RERC in March 2019, becoming the first of Canada’s three territories to join the group. At the meeting, representatives of each jurisdiction took the opportunity to exchange views with other members on important issues, such as dual representation, money laundering and emerging business models.

The aim of the National Competency Profiles project is to develop a pan-Canadian competency guide for real estate professionals. The member jurisdictions will soon sign the contract and implement a steering committee which will be comprised of representatives of each member jurisdiction. Jurisdictions will then focus on the core competencies that real estate brokers should have. This project should be introduced towards the end of 2020.
